The Hope Of Israel Movement In Nyc 1895

In 1895 Our Hope magazine, grew out of the fundamentalist-evangelical movement under the editorship of Arno C. Gaebelein and carried the subtitle “A Monthly Devoted to the Study of Prophecy and to Messianic Judaism.” A publication of the Hope of Israel movement in New York City, the magazine maintained that Jewish converts should not sever themselves from their people and their Jewish practices. It castigated the gentile Christian church for teaching that Jewish believers must refrain from observances proclaimed in Torah.

The original charter of the Hope of Israel movement called for Jewish believers to remain seperate and distinct from gentile believers and as such propogated the same seperation and distinctness as rabbinic judaism.
